Job Summary:
The Construction/Excavation Estimator plays a crucial role in our operations, tasked with the responsibility of accurately estimating the costs associated with our construction and excavation projects. This position involves a deep analysis of project plans, meticulous calculation of materials, labor, equipment, and other related expenses. By working closely with project managers, engineers, and clients, the Estimator ensures our bids are precise, competitive, and aligned with client needs and project objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Analysis: Review and interpret project plans and specifications to clearly understand the scope of work and the requirements for each estimate.
- Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing project plans and identifying the necessary labor, materials, and equipment.
- Supplier and Subcontractor Coordination: Obtain and evaluate quotes to ensure our pricing remains competitive and within project budgets.
- Collaboration: Work in tandem with project managers, engineers, and architects to align project requirements with budgeting and planning efforts.
- Technology Utilization: Employ specialized software tools to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of estimates and project proposals.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure all estimation activities adhere to company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Bid Preparation: Participate actively in the preparation and submission of bids, guaranteeing accuracy and timeliness.

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in construction/excavation estimation or similar roles.
- Comprehensive understanding of construction processes, excavation techniques, and project management.
- Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, AutoCAD, Revit) and MS Office Suite.
- Exceptional analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to precision in all estimates.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively articulate estimates and project needs.
- Independence in task management, alongside the capability to collaborate as part of a team.
- The ability to juggle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
Work Environment:
While primarily based in an office setting, this role may occasionally require visits to construction sites.
